In this episode of "A Few Minutes with Margy," Margy Lyman of Dudum Real Estate Group interviews Amie Lynn, the manager of Patti’s Jewelers at Walnut Creek’s Broadway Plaza. Their conversation provides insight into the family-owned jewelry store, Amie’s professional journey, and what makes Patti’s Jewelers stand out.
Margy opens by asking about the business, and Amie shares that Patti’s Jewelers is a family-owned establishment that originally began in San Francisco, with locations now in San Francisco, Napa, and Walnut Creek. Amie has deep roots in the area, having lived in Walnut Creek for over 20 years, and has a background in luxury retail and personal shopping in San Francisco. Her experience as a personal shopper, she notes, lends itself well to the jewelry business, where each piece is selected to complement the client's personality and style.
Margy asks what drew Amie to jewelry. Amie shares how jewelry can elevate a person’s mood, becoming more than an accessory—it becomes a symbol of joy and confidence. She loves helping clients find the perfect piece, whether it's for an engagement or a personal milestone. Margy agrees, noting that jewelry often marks special moments in people’s lives, making it meaningful and memorable.
Amie then elaborates on the types of diamonds Patti’s Jewelers offers, including responsibly sourced natural and lab-grown diamonds. She explains the process of creating lab-grown diamonds, which are virtually identical to natural diamonds in color, clarity, and durability, yet more accessible and ethically sourced. Amie appreciates that Patti’s combines luxury with responsibility, something Margy finds fascinating as well.
Margy highlights the family aspect of Patti’s Jewelers, asking if the Patti family remains involved. Amie confirms that Steve Patti, the original owner, still oversees diamond purchasing, while his daughter, Alexis, now serves as the company's president. Amie herself has worked in their Napa store and is now based in Walnut Creek, ensuring consistency across locations.
Training and motivation are critical in a specialized industry like jewelry, and Margy inquires about how the staff stays informed and passionate. Amie explains that ongoing learning is key, with team members like Dave, who has a decade of experience, and Kelly, who is studying to become a gemologist. The team’s enthusiasm for new knowledge keeps them engaged, and Amie encourages open communication and teamwork.
When Margy asks about Amie’s goals, she shares her vision of expanding the store's offerings, mentioning they’ll soon introduce Tacori, a line known for exquisite bridal and fashion pieces. Amie also discusses her love for working in Broadway Plaza, an open-air shopping area with restaurants and cafes nearby, making it a vibrant place to work and visit.
Reflecting on the store’s growth since opening in 2019, Amie observes that business has picked up significantly, and the store now enjoys steady foot traffic. She highlights current promotions, including discounts on lab-grown diamond pieces—a 1-carat style, originally $1,195, now $590, and a 2-carat style marked down from $1,995 to $1,195. Margy is impressed by these savings, noting they make luxury jewelry more attainable for many.
Amie shares some memorable client experiences, mentioning clients who have become friends and families she’s helped adorn over the years. This personal connection is rewarding for her, and she appreciates being part of her clients' lives during special occasions.
Margy then asks Amie about her favorite places in Walnut Creek. Amie enjoys dining at Montecatini and Lita, two popular local spots. When she’s not working, Amie loves painting, spending time at the beach, and being with her two little dogs, who keep her entertained.
To close, Margy asks how clients can connect with Patti’s Jewelers. Amie shares that clients can reach out via call, email, or text, and Margy assures viewers that all contact details will be included below the interview.
This interview with Amie Lynn reveals how Patti’s Jewelers combines luxury and a personal touch in a welcoming, family-owned business. Through their responsibly sourced diamonds, knowledgeable staff, and commitment to community, Patti’s Jewelers stands out as a beloved local gem in Walnut Creek.
